People are getting more and more informed about the quality of the water they drink and on how they can improve this quality. As we use water on a daily basis it is of utmost importance that it is clean and fresh. Water filter systems are a preferred way to cleanse your water and here are some of the ways to filtrate it at home:

1)Pitcher or carafe filter – the easiest filter to use. It is also the most portable one and has a very simple design – pour the water through it – and it filters all the bad stuff. This is ideal for people who do not want to install anything in their house, or for those who rent and such an installation is also out of the question. These need to be replaced very often.

2)Faucet filter system – it is attached to the tip of the faucet and can be turned on whenever you want to have the water filtered. This system is easy to install, very effective, but the filter has to be changed every month.

3)Undersink filter – the installation is a bit expensive. But they are extremely efficient and give great results. The filters need to be replaced every six months.

4)Whole house filter – they provide filtered water for the entire house, the filter cartridges last for a very long time.

5)Filter for a Water Cooler – this is an ideal choice if you have a home or office bottleless watercooler as not only do you get clean water, but nicely cooled as well.

Buying a water filter is the most efficient way to purify the water at home.

It’s common knowledge that tap water is not completely safe to drink and filtered water is much better for us as it rids our tap water of all those nasty chemicals and contaminants that we don’t need. Sure our tap water is purified to some extent but usually not enough to remove bacteria, metals and traces of pesticides and herbicides, which are often found in ordinary household tap water.

Due to this, lots of people will start installing house water filters to filter all the water that comes out of any tap in the house to ensure the water that you and your family drinks is healthy and clean.

The most popular water filters are carbon water filters also called charcoal filters, made from coconut husk. These filters remove most of the dangerous water impurities, but allows minerals that are beneficial to our health to pass. These filters are not expensive and a single cartridge should last between six and nine months.

There are some downsides to carbon water purifiers though. If you know the water in your area is acidic you may need to use a different filter as these ones can’t change the pH level of your water. Also if the filter is unused for several days it may start to get a bit mouldy especially in the warmer months.

Reverse Osmosis water filters work well as whole house filters, this is because they can remove almost all contaminants from tap water. They remove pretty much every mineral, leaving just pure distilled water which might not be the best thing for us as we need some of those minerals!

There are more water purification methods including magnetic systems, energetic water treatments, far infra red systems and water ionizers. They all are effective to a certain degree, but some of them are still experimental and are not yet used for house water purification.
