Did you know that our water filter cartridge could save money and help protect the health of your baby when you are preparing formula for feeding your child?
Depending on the nature of tap water in your area, you may want to ask your baby’s healthcare provider for recommendations on the use of water, especially if there are any health concerns. When mixing powdered or concentrated baby formula, The American Dental Association recommends not using water that contains high levels of fluoride. Too much fluoride puts your baby at risk for enamel fluorosis, a condition that develops while the teeth are forming. While not a disease, fluorosis can result in faint white lines or white spots or areas on the permanent teeth.
Many public water supplies are fluoridated or contain substantial natural fluoride. Boiling tap water or well water does not ensure nitrates or other impurities are removed – and boiling water more than once, or for too long can actually increase the concentration of impurities. However, whichever type of water you use, you should always boil the water first. Once the water is bubbling, you should boil it for around one minute only, and always allow it to cool a while before mixing it with the formula.
At the end of the day, you will have the extra reassurance of knowing that water passed through our water filter cartridge will remove the major contaminants that can be present in unfiltered water.
