Perfluorochemicals Found In Water

Having a water filter is a must, especially when a new chemical found in water surfaces.

Filters are only some of the precautions people can take against perfluorochemicals, or PFC as they are more commonly called. This is a new chemical and the studies on it are not very extensive yet, but the scientists are getting into that. It turns out this new chemical is found almost everywhere – in the air, in the underground water, in peoples blood. In 2001 the Michigan State University research found out that PFC was part of the blood profile of more than 400 different animals in the region. Then another study has been conducted, but this time it involved people. They had a very high concentration of this chemical in their blood as well. PFC can lead to cancer. It is not yet discovered how it travels and how it gets as far as it does, but scientist are suspicious that it moves around easily and is all over the place. Here is where PFC chemical can be found – non stick cookware, your nail polish, lotion, shaving cream, makeup, and powder if they have “perfluoro” or “fluoro” on the label. You can find it in the packaging of fast food like pizza boxes or French fries containers, the popcorn bags you put in the microwave also have it.

Install a water filter in your house and make sure you do not consume yet another chemical through your water as well.
